The Peddler Steakhouse is filled with an amazing amount of history and tradition. From our incredible story to the beautiful view from our dining room, there has been a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication that has gotten us to where we are today. Here are 4 interesting facts about our Gatlinburg TN restaurant:
1. Location on the Little Pigeon River
One of the things that guests love about the location of our steakhouse is that we are located right on the banks of the Little Pigeon River. The river provides our customers with an unbelievable view during their meal. We offer tables in the dining room that have windows that look right out over the gorgeous water. There is also a pavilion located outside where guests can enjoy the mountain stream while waiting for their table. While you enjoy your steak dinner, keep your eyes peeled because you never know when you might see trout swimming in the river or a black bear coming to the banks to search for dinner of their own!
2. Building of Former Gatlinburg Residents
Did you know that our restaurant is actually built on tradition? The building that houses The Peddler Steakhouse was once the home of Charles Ogle, a fourth generation Gatlinburg merchant. In 1958, he and his wife built the home of their dreams on the Little Pigeon River. Today, we still honor the Ogle family in a number of ways. Our Gatlinburg TN restaurant still has the same stone chimney that was in the original Ogle cabin, and our dining room was built around a rock patio that was the most unique feature of the home.
3. The History of The Peddler Tree
If you need a place to take a group photo in the Smokies, our famous tree is a great place to line the family up. The Dawn Redwood was once one of the most common trees on the planet. However, there was a time following the Ice Age that it was thought to be extinct. The Ogle family received the tree from a family friend traveling back from Washington, and it has now grown to be the beautiful 80-foot landmark of The Peddler.
4. Fresh Ingredients Cooked to Perfection
When you visit our restaurant in Gatlinburg, you are guaranteed to be served the freshest ingredients possible. We prepare only the best quality of naturally aged steaks that are never frozen. Our steaks are then cooked over Tennessee hickory charcoal and are seasoned to perfection with our specialty recipes, which creates an unbelievable flavor. In addition to our steaks and other entrees, guests love our incredible salad bar, drink menu, and irresistible housemade desserts that are sure to put a smile on your face!
